On day eight the challenge I gave myself was to work with Line and Shape, aiming for a more abstract approach and zooming in on the center of the Magnolia. Depending on how an artist feels about a subject, she may choose to show the layers of a work or conceal them. In this painting if you look very closely you can see the tiny dots in the first layer made by spraying alcohol inks. The pencil marks created with both watercolor pencils and wax based colored pencils are visible on the surface. You'll also notice that the edges of the shapes are outlined rather than blended.
